Heard On High
In its original home, the Angel hung upright, her blond hair and blue eyes clear to the viewer. With her candle, she anounces the birth of Jesus to the shepherds. Her halo is made of the same wire as that circling the head of the baby Jesus. As with Joseph, the wires for the candle run through her cement body.
The angels were changed the most when the scene moved homes. The heavenly choir that Eduard Kaib painted on the wall above the shepherds could not be transferred to the new location. The original painting now hangs outside the entrance to the nativity scene.
